Why these permissions exist

The app works by recognising supported transaction SMS and turning them into records you can review later. Without SMS access, that core feature can't work.

Feature connection

SMS permissions support transaction import, dashboard updates, reports, merchant views and the review tools that depend on recognised financial messages. Notification permission supports alerts when a new transaction is detected.

Lets Monetrax read supported transaction messages already saved on your phone.

RECEIVE_SMS

Lets Monetrax notice new supported transaction messages when they arrive.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Lets Monetrax alert you when a new transaction is detected.

WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Used only on older Android versions to help save exports.

INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Used for ads, purchase verification, receipt scanning, Drive backup and device sync.

AD_ID

Added by Google AdMob to use the advertising ID for ads on the free plan.

SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

Optional. Lets the categorisation pop-up appear on top of other apps.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Lets scheduled backups and background imports resume after a restart.

If you decline a permission

If SMS access is declined, Monetrax can't import transaction messages, but you can still paste or share messages into it. If notifications are declined, the app still works but won't show alerts.
